Restaurant in Frankfurt Germany
Frankfurt is one of the most popular culinary destinations in Germany with food as diverse and spectacular as the city itself. Frankfurt offers a great variety of both classic and modern wines, offering much more than basic sausage and potato salad combinations usually linked with German eateries.
Holbein’s is a museum of art in the Stadelschen Kunstinstitut, home to one of Germany’s major art collections, and the perfect location for a lunch or supper after having a walk through the galleries. The floor-to-ceiling windows and the magnificent building give the restaurant an excellent feeling, which is complemented only by the beautifully prepared food. Much inspired by Asian cuisine, the menu includes a wide range of delicious Thai curries, flavoursome salmon and exquisite sushi appetisers. On hot days the veranda is a lovely place on the river to enjoy a bottle of good wine or a drink as the sun falls.
On one or two floors above sea level, Main Tower Venue and Bar is located at an amazing 187m above the city of Frankfurt, making it the ideal restaurant for two meals at sunset. Advance bookings are almost obligatory to avoid the elevator supplement for walking-in visitors. The menu varies periodically, but always offers a refined variety of excellent regional and gourmet food. The fall menu included a bouche of scalop and pancetta, a goose liver appetiser, chestnut and apple, a duck, asparagus and wasabi entrance and a rum-based gingerbread dessert.
Ariston blends traditional and contemporary Greek cuisine with a variety of tasty, substantial meals that are ideal for winter. A creamy crab soup and sweet baby calamari are offered, while a number of main dishes include grilled calf livers with a mash of butter and a lamb shoulder with Greek rice. It’s a jump between the panna cotta and the chocolate soufflé for the ideal pudding. The decoration is like the cuisine, combining old and modern, lofty ceilings with wood panels and rugged black columns to create an inviting environment.
If you are searching for some very classic Frankfurt meals, you don’t have to go beyond Atschel. The dishes of basic home-style cuisine include the eponymous sausages of Francofurt city, pig knuckles, boiling ox-breast and schnitzels, all served with excellent sauerkraut dolls and bread. The only thing lacking is a glass of cold apple wine and they also have that in plenty, of course. A charming small pub, hardwood flooring, large tables and art nouveau ball lights are everything you might expect from this establishment. The pub is great throughout the year, in winter wonderfully cosy and in summer the outside garden terrace is a fantastic pleasure.
Ebert’s Suppenstube is a bustling lunch place specialising in warm bowls of healthy soups, accompanied with traditional bread and sausages. The potato soup is by far the most popular type and it is best served at one of the tables in the heated outside area. Service is fast and convenient and makes Ebert a popular restaurant for busy residents, so don’t anticipate a lengthy meal here – this kind of restaurant’s not that. Lunch at Ebert’s costs between four and six euros for a bowl of soup and bread, it’s a good value for money. Try the classic goulash as well.
Perhaps the finest Mexican in Frankfurt (or at least the truest), El Pacifico offers a wide range of traditional meals from many areas in Mexico. Try the tostadas or enchiladas for amazing taste, seasoned as much or as little as you want. Tortilla chips and salsa should be chosen while awaiting cooking for the main dishes, especially in-house fresh chips. And wash everything down? Of course, an ice-cold margarita. While you may not think of dining at a Mexican restaurant in Frankfurt immediately, El Pacifico becomes a real pleasure if you’re ready for a break from Frankfurters and want to go on a gastronomic trip to Central America.
A marvel to the sight and the senses, Im Herzen Afrikas invites guests to leave all their disturbances at the doorway of an African miracle. Coats scatter the floor and low couches enable guests to wriggle in sandy tapestries while tucking on delectable meals. Im Herzen Afrikas, a family-run restaurant, places great emphasis on ensuring that all customers feel totally comfortable and peaceful, as if on the sandy African beach rather than a bustling European metropolis. Book an inside table to view the furniture and decorations made of wooden tree trees while eating the excellent, prepared food for an unusual and pleasant experience.
